Many people in your church or workplace already have Christian
books, but don't know where to donate them
Christian Library
International is supported by Christian radio and television, magazines,
churches, scout troops, YMCAs, Christian schools, Sunday schools and
other organizations collecting Christian books. Christian books are
needed year round. We actively seek organizations to partner with us. If
your organization would like to partner, please email us here. Christian
books are touching lives for Jesus Christ every day in our prisons and
jails.
The items we need
(new or used) are:
-
Bibles
-
Christian books - Fiction
and non-fiction
-
Christian Music and CDs
-
CDs, DVDs and Video Tapes
-
Bible Study Materials
-
Tracts
-
Youth and Juvenile Christian Materials
-
Spanish books and materials
Here's how a Christian Book
Drive works:
Publicity:
Begin by announcing your Christian Book Drive. You may use the poster
below or generate your own materials. The posters must have the deadline
and the drop-off location. Look for other places to insert publicity
such as your church bulletin, radio station announcements, posters and
flyers. The Christian book drive should last three weeks.
The best way is to announce the Christian book drive in your Sunday
bulletin. Here's an example:
Christian Book Drive - For the next 3 weeks, we will be collecting used
Christian books for Christian Library International, a Raleigh, NC based
ministry that sends them on to US prisons and international missions,
free of charge. A collection box will be in the lobby until June 4th.
For information about this ministry see www.cli-nc.org.
Collection:
The drop-off area should be inside a church or office building. It must
be inside in case of rain. Wider collection boxes are better than taller
boxes so they don't tip over. Your collection team should check the box
periodically to make sure it looks OK. If it is full and overflowing,
remove some of the books to a storage area. Ask your book donors to
include their name and address and we can send them a tax deductible
receipt.
Shipping:
At the end of the 3 week book drive, send the books to CLI in Raleigh NC
or a CLI Regional Distribution Center near you. You should go through
them to eliminate any non-Christian books or severely damaged books. CLI
pays for the outbound shipping to our prison outreaches but not for
inbound shipping.
When your books arrive here, our volunteers sort, stamp and repack them
and send them off to the prisons we support. See the list Through
Christian book drives, thousands of books have been collected and
hundreds of thousands of inmates have been blessed. Thank you for
caring!
